On average, 13% of priests in the U.S. are burning out and leaving the priesthood within ten years of ordination. In some dioceses, that number is as high as 50%.
For the future of the Church, we don't just need more priestly vocations, we also need healthy, strong, capable priests who serve God's people faithfully for a lifetime.
The mission of the Integrated Life Foundation is to renew priestly vocations through innovative therapeutic models and ongoing formation rooted in authentic Catholic spirituality.
Our primary offering is daily accompaniment. Every priest in our care has the opportunity to speak each day with a trained mentor who integrates clinical psychology with Catholic spirituality.
The conversations are confidential, trustworthy, and offer a personalized pathway for healing from burnout, wounds, crisis, or simply for their own growth. Furthermore, the practical support improves homilies, encounters in the confessional, regular human interaction, leadership skills, and one-on-one counseling.
We provide more than just secular therapy. Its integrated accompaniment rooted in faith, led by someone who understands the unique burdens of the priesthood. And it works.
Father Tom was 11 months into his priesthood and just 28 years old when his bishop asked him to be pastor of a 500-family parish where 80% of parishioners spoke a different language.
Overwhelmed, with no one to support him, Father Tom stopped sleeping, struggled to keep up his prayer life, and felt tempted to turn to other means of coping. He didn't feel like he could share his struggles with his diocese, for fear of being labeled weak or incompetent, but he knew he also needed help.
That's when he found the Integrated Life Foundation and got the help he needed. His capacity to handle the role and respond to the stress in a fruitful way has massively increased. Not only does he no longer experience the symptoms of burnout, but he feels like he is a better man and a better priest for having gone through the challenge.
Today, many priests are afraid of the consequences that come with asking for help. So, they hold out until they are desperate and burned out. By supporting the Integrated Life Foundation, you're helping us support priests and revolutionize mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
